He’s not going to be fit for this game and we’re trying, he’s trying, to do everything he can to feel better and get back training. But not yet.

I am very hopeful [that this is not a season-ending injury] and he is as well. Back injuries are a bit tricky and how they evolve with the load that you put in certain areas. But he’s very positive about it. – Mikel Arteta on William Saliba

Raheem [Sterling] is coming back, he’ll miss the game but I think he’ll have more chance for Tuesday. He was close. Mason [Mount] has trained and is available, probably not from the start but in the squad.

“Kai [Havertz] had a fever but he’s recovered now, so he’s trained the last couple of days. Reece [James] has had the last two training sessions with us so providing there’s no reaction, he should be available for tomorrow as well.” – Graham Potter

MIGHT PLAY: Joachim Andersen (calf)

AVAILABLE: Albert Sambi Lokonga (was unable to face parent club), Vicente Guaita (hamstring), Sam Johnstone (calf)

We’ve got two players who are unfortunately not going to be available. It’s unfortunate because both were training last week, but we’ve lost Nathan Ferguson and Chris Richards for this game. Hopefully the injuries are not serious ones. Both goalkeepers are back fit.” – Roy Hodgson

EVERTON

RULED OUT: Andros Townsend (knee), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (hamstring)

AVAILABLE: Nathan Patterson (match fitness)

[Calvert-Lewin] hasn’t trained with the group but he’s back on the grass again, so he’s making progress which is good. He did have that tiny niggle on the injury, slighty different area, but he’s making very good progress. – Sean Dyche

Hamstring injury and ankle injury and we’ll see their evolution but they need time to recover, they are out of the team [against Arsenal]. What I know is they are out for this game and I think it will be more time. I don’t if one week more, two weeks more, I cannot tell you.” – Javi Gracia on Gnonto and Wober

MIGHT PLAY: Ryan Bertrand (match fitness), Jonny Evans (muscle), Victor Kristiansen (ankle), Harry Souttar (knock), Dennis Praet (dead leg)

AVAILABLE: Wout Faes (back from suspension)

Sadly [Tielemans] had a slight setback. He was due to train this week. He was training very well up until last Friday. He’s had a slight setback which may need some rest now. That is disappointing for us but we have to let the ankle settle back down and take it from there. – Brendan Rodgers

LIVERPOOL

RULED OUT: Luis Diaz (knee), Thiago Alcantara (hip), Naby Keita (muscle), Stefan Bajcetic (thigh), Calvin Ramsay (knee)

MIGHT PLAY: Darwin Nunez (foot), Kostas Tsimikas (rib)

In training everything looks fine but of course he’s not in the squad for the weekend, there’s no chance. Next week will be an important week for him; this week he was doing parts of training, next week I think most of the things he can do. Then we will see. Maybe [ready for] Arsenal but more likely Leeds after that. – Jurgen Klopp on Luis Diaz

“Darwin couldn’t train for two or three days this week still because of the cut he got against Real Madrid on his foot, but was yesterday then back in full training so he is definitely in contention.” – Jurgen Klopp on Darwin Nunez

MANCHESTER CITY

RULED OUT: Phil Foden (appendix)

MIGHT PLAY: Anthony Martial (hip), Raphael Varane (knock), Marcel Sabitzer (knock), Marcus Rashford (knock)

I have good hope. He trained but he had to do some treatment, he had to do some individual training and, today, he joined in the group. I think we have one more day so I have good hope he’s available. I think so. – Erik ten Hag on Marcus Rashford

NEWCASTLE UNITED

RULED OUT: Miguel Almiron (thigh), Emil Krafth (knee)

MIGHT PLAY: Anthony Gordon (ankle)

Nick [Pope] felt a problem in his thigh after the Wolves game. He didn’t train in preparation for the Nottingham Forest game, completing that game with a bit of discomfort so didn’t train when we were in Dubai. He has trained this week so the signs are good. – Eddie Howe

“Sven [Botman] suffered food poisoning, quite a nasty bout of illness. I don’t think he was alone in the Holland camp, there was quite a few players suffering the same thing, so he left the camp early to try and get himself back up to speed. He has trained with us since he’s returned so he should be fine.” – Eddie Howe

Chris Wood is out for the season. He’s picked up an injury during the international break. Serge [Aurier], Andre [Ayew] and Gustavo [Scarpa] have picked up some injuries over the break. We’re not sure how long they will be out for or what their availability will be for the next few games.” – Steve Cooper

SOUTHAMPTON

RULED OUT: Armel Bella-Kotchap (shoulder), Tino Livramento (knee), Juan Larios (muscle)

MIGHT PLAY: Che Adams (calf), Mohammed Salisu (knock)

Armel [Bella-Kotchap] has a similar problem that he had in the past. I remember it was in October, curiously against West Ham, so he is out of the game but not out of the season, so we are working on him.

With Sali [Salisu] and [Adams], they came back from the national team with some issues and we have one more training [session] tomorrow, so we will see how they are and if they can join the team. – Ruben Selles
