Gameweek 23 might just go down as one of the longest in FPL history, spanning across two weeks! Nonetheless, it’s been completed with some interesting results. Norwich eat Watford 3-0, a game which would have upset nearly 40% of FPL managers who owned Emmanuel Dennis (£6.2m) after his sending off, causing him to miss the home tie against Burnley. Man City dropped points for the 2nd time this season against Southampton following a 1-1 draw while Liverpool and Chelsea were able to catch up after 3-1 and 2-0 wins against Crystal Palace and Spurs respectively. Man United picked up a hard-fought 1-0 victory against fellow tip 4 contenders West Ham to stay 4th with a game in hand over the Londoners.

On the FPL side, this gameweek was a tricky one to navigate due to many big names still being unavailable due to AFCON duties and with Watford and Burnley being the only sides with a DGW, it was difficult to pinpoint which players would score big. The average for this week was only 35 points well below what has been the standard for the season. With some sides having to deal with a mix of blank and double gameweeks, the next few gameweeks will be important for balancing transfers and chip strategy.

Gameweek 23 top 3 performers:

1. Nick Pope – 19 points (10 points vs Arsenal, 9 points vs Watford)

2. James Tarkowski – 14 points (8 points vs Arsenal, 6 points vs Watford)

=3. Thiago Silva – 13 points (90 minutes, one goal, clean sheet, 2BPS)

=3. Joshua Sargent – 13 points (90 minutes, two goals, 3BPS)

=3. Joao Moutinho – 13 points (90 minutes, one goal, one assist, 3BPS)
