Fantasy Pavilion’s Picks Gameweek 2

Last updated on August 18th, 2023

We are The Fantasy Pavilion, a group of friends from the island of Trinidad and Tobago obsessed with FPL. We create content to share our passion for FPL and our unique way we play. The Fantasy Pavilion has 5 members who all play FPL their way.

Thanks for joining us on the first-ever Pavilion Picks Article (sorry we’re late this Gameweek!) where we aim to give you 5 FPL transfer suggestions from our team, loosely deemed differentials (<10% ownership and/or generally overlooked by the FPL community).

Side Note:

Some players from our Pre-Season Picks must have made their way into your FPL squad and have moved from the differential category into for a lack of a better word “mainstream”.

Here are Fantasy Pavilion’s Panel Picks for Gameweek 2:

Jarrod (Mr. Differential) – Just a heads-up so that everyone knows but I like to pick the obscure players who literally almost no one chooses. For GW2, I wanted to roll my Free Transfer (which is generally the best advice to give) but for the sake of picking a transfer that everyone should keep their eyes on would be Luis Diaz. We spoke about him in our Pre-Season Pick articles and after scoring a goal and pulling 8 points, he’s still only owned by less than 10% of FPL managers. Liverpool play Bournemouth next who they scored 9 goals against last season so I mean, I am looking forward to more goals again this weekend.

Kevan (the Gamer) –  My thoughts after GW1 is that Budget options emerge after we saw Alphonse Areola (priced at 4.0M) start for West Ham and picked up 3 points. Owned fairly highly, someone who is differential and within budget is  William Osula (priced at 4.5M). He’s a forward playing for Sheffield United and started in GW1. He’s the only FWD in the game priced this low to start. He’ll rack up 2 points each time (potentially) if you’re in a bind and don’t wanna use your Free Transfer.

Antonio (The Cool Guy) – Honestly I’m looking at Julian Alvarez from Manchester City (FWD priced at 6.5M). Since Kevin de Bruyne’s unfortunate injury, Alvarez’s minutes are destined to increase and well we all know Man City with their tendency to score goals week in and week out.

Abba (the Maverick) – I looking at practicality so early in the FPL season with it being your first free transfer. We got the news that Reece James is out injured (surprise surprise) so obviously managers are panicking and looking for their next option. Well, why don’t you pick Raphael Varane (Man United) who is priced at 5.0M and owned by less than 5% of FPL managers. He scored 14 points last GW and United are one of the sides touted to be harder to break down this season. He may be a good long-term solution within your FPL side.

Sham (the Stats guy)-  I agree with Jarrod, rolling your transfer in GW2 is the best advice I can give but if you have a few fires to put out then I suggest transferring in Jarrod Bowen. West Ham’s talisman after the departure of Declan Rice, Bowen is focal to West Ham’s attacking threat. With the addition of James Ward-Prowse, I expect Bowen’s output to increase from his xG of 0.2 and xAG of 0.5. WHU has some decent fixtures for the next 3 Gameweeks and he generally performs against top 6 teams as well.
