Best budget FPL Goalkeepers and Defenders

Last updated on July 15th, 2021

The start of FPL is now less than 33 days away from us and the excitement level is building up for the fantasy managers around the globe. Working with Premier Fantasy Tools, I have launched a full series of content for the upcoming season of Fantasy Premier League. Continuing this series, today we are going to talk about some of the best budget goalkeepers and defenders who are of the level to give us points instead of just sitting on the bench. So let’s start.

Goalkeepers

  • Robert Sanchez (£4.5) [TSB – 27.5%]

Sanchez had a pretty good last season claiming 10 clean sheets (CS). He is currently the second-highest owned goalkeeper. He is a must starter as he started 27 matches last season and performed exceptionally well. He has some great fixtures to start things off and with his price, he should be a must pick.

Fixtures:

  • David Bachmann (£4.5) [TSB – 2.1%]

Bachmann started as a back-up for Ben Foster (£4.5) in EFL last season but got installed as no. 1 after Xisco arrived as a head coach mid-way. Watford has some good fixtures to start the season from a defensive perspective and hence, Bachmann can be a popular pick.

Fixtures:

  • Vicente Guaita (£4.5) [TSB – 6.3%]

Vicente had a good time around last season and can be a good differential. He has experience of playing 3 seasons. His selection in the team should only be done after GW 3 due to tough starting fixtures. In those 3 GW’s, you can judge his performances.

Fixtures:

Defenders

  • Ben Godfrey (£5.0) [TSB – 1.5%]

Godfrey had an amazing season last time assisting 2 goals and keeping 11 CS. He also has a great set of fixtures to begin with and can be a good option. He has got amazing skills in blocking the ball and tackling and likes to play short passes which can help him get some assists and CS. His first five fixtures:

  • Tyrone Mings (£5.0) [TSB – 7.2%]

Mings had a good season of FPL last time and a great season of Euro 2020. He is one of these big players who can have a great impact on the game. Talking about his stats, he had 2 goals, 2 assists and 11 CS in PL and 2 CS in 2 matches in Euro 2020. He likes to play long balls and off ground often and is an indirect set-piece taker. This can help Aston Villa to get some goals and assists. His starting fixtures are:

  • Ben White (£4.5) [TSB – 10.8%]

Ben is currently one of the most popular picks in FPL for defenders and can be a good option for GW 1-4. He had 12 CS last season and will look to make an impact here too. His passing and interception are one of the best and his passing abilities are often too high which helps him get those invaluable assists. Have a look at his fixtures:
