The fixtures are coming thick and fast, and we have no time to rest. The deadline is close and it’s almost time for double gameweeks. With so many pending fixtures to rearrange, there is an opportunity to gain ranks with good differential picks. Thus, in this article, we bring you 3 differential players that can help you navigate this chaotic period and help you boost your ranks.

Matthew Cash (Aston Villa – Defender – £5.0m) vs BRE (A)

The arrival of Steven Gerrard as head coach boosted the fantasy potential for the fullbacks. In his first league game in charge, Aston Villa picked up a clean sheet and since then have looked solid at the back. Aston Villa has one of the best fixtures against Brentford, who have scored just 5 goals in their last 6 matches while keeping just 1 clean sheet.

So far this season, Cash has created 12 chances and 2 big chances for his team and managed 14 shots inside the box. He also has the second-highest number of penalty area touches (54) among all defenders. While not having good chance creation numbers, his quite advanced position along with clean sheet potential make him a very good prospect. With ownership of just 4.5%, he could be a solid differential at the back.

Tariq Lamptey (Brighton – Defender – £4.5m) vs EVE (A)

Since his comeback from a long injury, Lamptey has been terrific for Brighton. He is playing almost as a winger and creating tons of chances. In GW13, he created the most chances among all defenders (5), and since then has been vital to every Brighton attack.

In 11 appearances (7 starts) this season, Lamptey has 3 clean sheets and created 10 chances and 1 big chance for his team. He also has 23 penalty area touches and 7 shots inside the box. While their opponents, Everton have conceded 13 goals in their last 6 matches. Lamptey is certainly due a big haul and the prospect of attacking returns along with a clean sheet makes him an explosive option for our FPL teams. His current ownership is 2.2%.

Lucas Moura (Spurs – Midfielder – £6.5m) vs WAT (A)

Spurs have been in quite good form since Conte’s arrival scoring 13 goals and conceding just 4 goals. Lucas Moura has started 5 games in the last 7 GWs and has 2 goals and 3 assists to his name.  He put up an outstanding performance against Palace scoring a goal and 2 assists in GW19.

In the last 7 GWs, he has 11 goal attempts, 7 shots inside the box, 2 big chances, and 14 penalty area touches. He also created 6 chances and 2 big chances for his team during this run. He faces a Watford side who have conceded 20 goals and haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last 9 matches. Lucas Moura is a good value pick, and we back him to get a return against a poor Watford defense. Current ownership is 3.9%.

*Ownership percentage is as of December 31, 2021, at the time of writing the article.
