How to use the FPL Assistant Manager Chip

The new Assistant Manager chip is complicated! We are doing our best to make it easier and allow you to see the best opportunities.

How the Assistant Manager Chip works

  • You activate the chip like any other, and once you do, you can choose your AM. Your AM will then score points for the next three gameweeks in a row.
  • Choosing your initial Assistant Manager does not cost a transfer. If you change your manager any point after that, it will cost a transfer in the same way as players.
  • Note you can only play one chip in a Gameweek. So if you activate the AM in gameweek 27, you can’t use another chip until gameweek 30.
  • If a manager leaves or is fired, you will still score based on the original club’s results.
  • The Assistant Manager chip counts towards the three-players-per-club rule.
  • Assistant Managers have a price that will not change throughout the season.
  • The Assistant Manager budget comes out of your existing budget, so you need to make room if you have limited funds currently.
  • After the three gameweeks are complete, the funds you spent on the Assistant Manager will become available again

How to get Assistant Manager points

  • Team win = 6 points
  • Team draw = 3 points
  • Goal scored by team = 1 point per goal
  • Clean sheet from team = 2 points
  • Table bonus: If your manager faces a club ranked at least five places higher in the Premier League table at the start of the Gameweek, you get an EXTRA 10 points for a win, so 16 in total, or an additional 5 points for a draw, so 8 in total.
  • Note: you cannot captain the Assistant Manager
