2022/23 Premier League Press Conferences – GW23

ARSENAL

RULED OUT: Gabriel Jesus (knee), Emile Smith Rowe (thigh), Mohamed Elneny (knee), Reiss Nelson (muscle)

Gabi [Jesus] is doing really well, he’s already been outside a little bit. Still early stages, he keeps pushing everybody, every single day, but we need to respect some timelines and some processes.

But he’s doing really well. Not yet [for a return date], I think it’s still too far off that.  – Mikel Arteta

ASTON VILLA

RULED OUT: Diego Carlos (Achilles)

MIGHT PLAY: Bertrand Traore (unspecified)

BOURNEMOUTH

RULED OUT: Lewis Cook (knee), David Brooks (hamstring), Ryan Fredericks (muscle), Junior Stanislas (muscle), Lloyd Kelly (calf), Jack Stephens (calf)

MIGHT PLAY: Dominic Solanke (knee), Marcus Tavernier (hamstring), Philip Billing (hamstring)

BRENTFORD

RULED OUT: Frank Onyeka (hamstring), Pontus Jansson (hamstring), Thomas Strakosha (ankle)

MIGHT PLAY: Shandon Baptiste (muscle)

BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION

RULED OUT: Levi Colwill (muscle), Adam Lallana (muscle), Jakub Moder (knee)

AVAILABLE: Alexis Mac Allister (back from suspension), Evan Ferguson (knee)

“Colwill and Lallana can’t play but we knew that before this week and we have another couple of doubts.

“Yes [Evan Ferguson cab play] but I have a doubt betwee Undav and Ferguson because Deniz Undav played very well. He knows when he has to play and when he has to attack the space, it is different to Evan. Evan is more stiker. He [Ferguson] knows better to attack the space to score, but in the quality of play, Deniz Undav is also very important.” – Roberto De Zerbi

CHELSEA

RULED OUT: Wesley Fofana (knee), Mateo Kovacic (calf), N’Golo Kante (hamstring), Armando Broja (knee), Christian Pulisic (knee), Edouard Mendy (finger), Denis Zakaria (thigh)

MIGHT PLAY: Raheem Sterling (knee)

AVAILABLE: Joao Felix (back from suspension)

“Wesley [Fofana] and Dennis [Zakaria] have been training with the team. We’ve had a little setback with Raheem [Sterling], he is doubtful. He got a kick in training.” – Graham Potter

CRYSTAL PALACE

RULED OUT: Wilfried Zaha (hamstring), Joachim Andersen (calf)

MIGHT PLAY: Nathan Ferguson (match fitness)

AVAILABLE: James McArthur (groin)

“Nathan [Ferguson] has trained for the last couple of weeks with the team with no step backs. – Patrick Vieira

EVERTON

RULED OUT: Andros Townsend (knee), James Garner (back), Ben Godfrey (knee), Michael Keane (match fitness), Nathan Patterson (knee)

MIGHT PLAY: Dominic Calvert-Lewin (hamstring)

We’re still monitoring him, he’ll be touch and go at best, I think, for the Liverpool game. We’ll just have to monitor it and hope that it settles down sooner rather than later. – Sean Dyche on Dominic Calvert-Lewin

FULHAM

RULED OUT: Tom Cairney (shin), Neeskens Kebano (Achilles)

LEEDS UNITED

RULED OUT: Rodrigo (ankle), Pascal Struijk (concussion), Stuart Dallas (leg), Archie Gray (ankle), Sonny Perkins (ankle), Adam Forshaw (hip)

MIGHT PLAY: Liam Cooper (muscle), Marc Roca (knock), Luis Sinisterra (muscle)

AVAILABLE: Robin Koch (back from suspension)

“The long-term injuries are progressing well. Pascal Struijk will miss out due to the concussion protocols. Liam [Cooper] and Marc [Roca] we’re still assessing. Luis [Sinisterra], we think he’ll be OK. They’re slight muscle injuries.” – caretaker manager Michael Skubala

LEICESTER CITY

RULED OUT: James Justin (Achilles), Boubakary Soumare (hamstring)

MIGHT PLAY: Wilfried Ndidi (personal), Jonny Evans (calf), Ryan Bertrand (knee)

AVAILABLE: Ricardo Pereira (Achilles)

He (Ricardo) has looked great, so he’ll come into the squad, which is great news for us. He played 70 minutes in a game on Tuesday. Him and Ryan Bertrand played in that. Those two have been out for a long, long time, but both did very well, got through the game, which is fantastic. Ricardo is probably a bit further down the line than Ryan.

Jonny [Evans] has worked well, just a couple of little niggles from him coming back, having been out for so long, so we’ll assess how he is – Brendan Rodgers

LIVERPOOL

RULED OUT: Roberto Firmino (calf), Virgil van Dijk (hamstring), Luis Diaz (knee), Ibrahima Konate (muscle), Arthur Melo (muscle), Thiago (hip)

MIGHT PLAY: Diogo Jota (hamstring), Fabinho (illness)

The players are back in training, still at different stages. Diogo [Jota] is the closest, he’s trained normal already for two days. Another three days of training possibly for him and then I think he’s in contention for the squad but we have to wait a little bit.

Bobby [Firmino], next one, I don’t know. Virgil [van Dijk], I don’t think is that close.” – Jurgen Klopp

MANCHESTER CITY

RULED OUT: John Stones (hamstring)

AVAILABLE: Phil Foden (illness)

MANCHESTER UNITED

RULED OUT: Anthony Martial (hip), Antony (leg), Christian Eriksen (ankle), Casemiro (suspended), Scott McTominay (unspecified), Donny van de Beek (knee)

MIGHT PLAY: Aaron Wan-Bissaka (illness)

NEWCASTLE UNITED

RULED OUT: Bruno Guimaraes (suspended), Matt Targett (heel), Emil Krafth (knee), Javier Manquillo (knee)

AVAILABLE: Alexander Isak (concussion)

“Yes he will be [back in the squad]. He’s fully recovered, no problems. Initially, he got hit the ball on the head. He didn’t feel too bad but we had to follow [concussion] protocols. He’s been good this week.” – Eddie Howe on Alexander Isak

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

MIGHT PLAY: Jonjo Shelvey (calf)

“Ryan Yates is close to returning to full training, so that should be early next week, hopefully. We’ve had some positive news with Niakhate, who has been out for a long while. He’s back on the grass training with us, but he’s non-contact. The rest [of the squad] is as we were.” – Steve Cooper

SOUTHAMPTON

RULED OUT: Tino Livramento (knee), Juan Larios (muscle)

MIGHT PLAY: Alex McCarthy (ankle), Stuart Armstrong (groin), Kyle Walker-Peters (hamstring)

“We’ve got a pretty strong bill of health, with the two new lads and Mislav Oršić playing in the [under-]23s last week, everyone is a bit more up to speed. We’ve got a few that weren’t anywhere near match tempo and that’s why we had to be sensible with them, albeit scrutinised.” – Nathan Jones

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

RULED OUT: Hugo Lloris (knee), Cristian Romero (suspended), Yves Bissouma (ankle)

We are all disappointed about Hugo and his injury. However, we have a good experienced goalkeeper [in] Fraser Forster with great experience in the Premier League and Champions League.

We say to Hugo: ‘See you soon’. He needs a good recovery. He needs maybe between five and seven weeks to be back with us.” – Cristian Stellini, in for Antonio Conte

WEST HAM UNITED

RULED OUT: Gianluca Scamacca (knee), Maxwel Cornet (calf), Kurt Zouma (hip), Thilo Kehrer (knock), Alphonse Areola (hamstring)

“Much the way we were at the weekend. Thilo [Kehrer] came off with an injury which is the main one.” – David Moyes
