International Break #1 Series – Part III: Forwards

TOP-SCORING FORWARD & FORWARD TO TARGET FOR GWs 4-7

TOP SCORING FORWARD: MICHAIL ANTONIO

The West Ham all-time highest Premier League goal-scorer Michail Antonio leads the goal tally (4) after the first three game-weeks. If you followed my content in pre-season, you would have had both Antonio and Benrahma and would have at least a top 100k rank in these early days, here’s a reminder: Most Selected Template vs Balanced Template https://premierfantasytools.com/2021/07/19/most-selected-template-vs-balanced-template/…

Antonio ranks 1st for Total Points, 1st for ICT Index, 1st for Threat and 1st for Influence amongst all players in FPL, based on FPL Statistics. Antonio has had 16 goal attempts which converts to 16.8 minutes per attempt, while his assist potential is 7 chances created which translates to 38 minutes per chance. Below shows Antonio’s heatmap and average statistics per 90 mins (via http://fantasyfootballscout.com).

If Antonio can stay fit, we will be in for many more returns, let’s hope he is managed well by Moyes for the sake of our FPL points!

FORWARD TO TARGET FOR GWs 4-7: CRISTIANO RONALDO

The highest-priced player in FPL 2021/2022 at £12.5m, the 36-year-old Portugal International reminded the doubters about his G.O.A.T status and goal-scoring ability. In a World Cup Qualifier played on September 1st, 2021 against Ireland, Ronaldo surpassed the Iran Legend Ali Daei’s record of 109 international goals, scoring two late goals, taking his tally to 111 international goals, ascending to the status of the most prolific player to ever grace men’s international football.

In Ronaldo’s 895 games he scored 674 goals and registered 229 assists. In his last three seasons for the Serie A giants Juventus, Ronaldo scored 29, 31, 21 league goals respectively, with an overall count of 101 goals and 22 assists in 134 games.

His suspension from the World Cup Qualifier against Azerbaijan means he would be very well rested and could meet up with his Manchester United teammates earlier than expected. Whether Ronaldo starts against GW4 opponents Newcastle United or comes on as a substitute, he will be facing one of the PL’s worst defences, having already leaked 8 goals, which ranks the Toon at 18th place.

At the time of writing Ronaldo has already been transferred in by 141670 Managers, the next four fixtures favour the forward, although one can agree an elite player like Cristiano Ronaldo is fixture proof, FPL’s FDR ranks the WHU (A) and EVE (H) fixtures as 4s when I believe it should be 3s.

My route to securing Ronaldo will be, Fernandes out for Torres and Ings out for Ronaldo, are you jumping on the Ronaldo bandwagon?

Thank you for reading this International Break #1 Series, we have a lot more planned, stay tuned and may the arrows be green!
